Gift Card Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to all Tortoise+Black gift cards and e-gift cards purchased from Tortoise+Black.
1. Using your gift card
Tortoise+Black gift cards can be used as full or part payment towards purchases made on www.tortoiseandblack.com
Gift cards can be used across multiple purchases until the full value has been used or the gift card expires.
If the value of your purchase is greater than the remaining gift card balance, you can pay the difference using another available payment method.
No cash or change will be given for purchases where the value of the gift card exceeds the value of the goods purchased. Any remaining balance will remain available for future purchases, subject to the expiry date.
2. Validity
Gift cards are valid for 24 months from the date of purchase.
Any remaining balance will expire at the end of the 24-month validity period and will no longer be available for use.
3. Refunds and cancellations
Gift cards cannot normally be returned, refunded or exchanged for cash or any other form of payment.
This does not affect any statutory rights you may have under applicable consumer law.
Where a gift card is purchased online, any applicable statutory cancellation rights will apply. Where a gift card has been used, those rights may be affected depending on the circumstances and the stage at which the gift card has been supplied or redeemed.
4. Returns of goods purchased using a gift card
If you return goods that were purchased wholly or partly using a Tortoise+Black gift card, any refund relating to the amount originally paid using the gift card will be credited back to a gift card.
Where another payment method was also used, any remaining refund will be made to the original payment method, subject to our usual returns policy and your statutory rights.
5. Restrictions
Gift cards:
- cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred into a bank account;
- cannot be used to purchase other Tortoise+Black gift cards;
- cannot be used to purchase gift cards issued by another retailer;
- cannot be used as a deposit or to settle an outstanding account;
- cannot be combined with any other payment method except where the value of the order exceeds the available gift card balance.
6. Lost, stolen or damaged gift cards
Please treat your gift card as you would cash.
Tortoise+Black cannot accept responsibility for gift cards that are lost, stolen, destroyed or used without your permission.
If you believe that your gift card has been obtained or used fraudulently, please contact us as soon as possible.
7. Fraud and misuse
Tortoise+Black reserves the right to cancel or refuse to accept a gift card where we reasonably suspect that it has been obtained, duplicated, altered or used fraudulently.
We may also refuse to accept a gift card where we reasonably believe that its use would constitute fraud or other unlawful activity.
8. Availability
Gift cards are subject to availability and may be temporarily unavailable due to technical or operational reasons.
Tortoise+Black reserves the right to amend these gift card terms from time to time. Any changes will not affect gift cards that have already been purchased, except where required by law.
9. Statutory rights
Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict or otherwise affect any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection legislation.
