Ordering prescription glasses online can feel a little intimidating, but it’s much easier than you think! Here’s a quick guide on the two main measurements we may need: Pupillary Distance (PD) and Varifocal Height.
What Is Pupillary Distance (PD)?
PD stands for Pupillary Distance, which is simply the distance between the centres of your pupils.
This tells the lab exactly where the ‘sweet spot’ of the lens should be. This measurement is increasingly important as prescriptions become stronger.
How to Get Your PD
We offer three easy options:
- Ask your optician if they have it from a previous pair of glasses
- Send us a photo with a ruler positioned on your forehead
- Send us an old pair of glasses, and we can measure from those

What Is Varifocal Height?
If you’re ordering varifocal lenses, we’ll also need your varifocal height.
This tells us where the intermediate areas of your lenses should begin. It’s measured from the centre of your pupil to the bottom of the frame.
How We Take This Measurement Online
For first-time varifocal orders, we’ll send a dummy frame to try on at home.
Send us a quick photo of you wearing the frames, and our team will take your varifocal heights and P.D.
