After humble beginnings first as a medical student, then as a soldier, Piacenza native Giorgio Armani started out in fashion as a window dresser for the famous La Rinascente department store. After designing for the luxury Cerruti brand in the mid-60s, he founded Giorgio Armani S.p.A in Milan in 1975, the beginnings of a sprawling fashion empire world-renowned for its classic design and craftsmanship.
